Sorcerer's Apprentice Creative Writing Camp
April 27, 2019
8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
The Dakota Writing Project, a local teachers' organization affiliated with the National Writing Project, and the Vermillion Literary Project, an award-winning student organization, are teaming up to host the Sorcerer's Apprentice Creative Writing Camp. This special event is for talented high school students and college students who are interested in creative writing.
The idea behind the camp is to bring together high school and college writers with dedicated teacher-writer professionals from the Dakota Writing Project and the USD English Department, along with university student leaders from the Vermillion Literary Project and the University Writing Center, for a day of writing and collaboration, a magical apprenticeship.
Writers will write in various genres and have the opportunity to revise and perform their work, guided by writing professionals. No experience with creative writing is necessary.
School administrators and teachers are invited to nominate promising students with a genuine interest in writing, on the camp registration form. The high school Saturday registration fee includes a day of workshops, a t-shirt, a copy of the VLP literary magazine, lunch, and refreshments (see the registration form and online schedule).
If you are a person with a disability and require special accommodation to fully participate, please contact Disability Services 48 hours before the event at 605-677-6389 or e-mail email@example.com.
